The Background
It was at the height of the pandemic, in April 2020, when I met the baker in me. It all started with my cravings for banana bread, which I can describe as the easiest bread to bake. As I browsed on social media, tons of ube pandesal will be seen online. I started to look for the ingredients, which definitely gives me a hard time, but I still push through. The good thing is I got an almost perfect one on my first try. From that time, I got curious about how breads, pies, or cakes are made. I told myself that I wanted to do it with my own bare hands, from scratch, and not use already mixed ingredients that someone can buy at grocery stores. Among all the pastries I know, cookies are the one I wanted to master. What I thought was just an easy thing to do, gave me anxiety and even made me want to quit baking. To tell you the truth, baking cookies from scratch is not an easy thing to do, considering the texture and taste you want to achieve, so you can call them your "signature cookies." At the time that I come up with my own recipe, it feels like nothing, a sigh of relief that finally, after doing lots of experiments and readings, the perfect formula is at my hands now. A couple of free tastes were done—with my relatives and friends, but as soon as I got their approval and my sister's (whose opinion matters the most) went on record to introduce it in public, Bake & Chase's first ever product has been out.
Little did I know that my simple cravings would turn into something I will forever be thankful for.
The reason behind the name 'Bake & Chase'
It was not part of the plan to put up a name, but as someone who loves to post every single achievement that I have, I was forced to. I set-up an instagram account and named it Bake & Chase - let's chase together. I started selling cookies in hopes of helping my parents to provide for my tuition fee. I bake, because I wanted to keep chasing my dreams of being a communicator and continue studying, until I got that diploma. Well, Bake & Chase didn't disappoint, it truly has helped me.
